Rising Alt-pop Sensation, Spazz Cardigan Releases 'S.O.S.'
By: Maria Kornacki
Nashville's rising alt-pop star, Spazz Cardigan is starting the new year of with right with an infectious new single, "S.O.S.," currently available on all streaming platforms. "S.O.S." marks the first single from Spazz Cardigan's upcoming EP, Vulnerabilia, set for release on March 22nd. His 2018 singles-"Over," "Episode," "Medicine," "Nerves," and "DOIDOIT" - all debuted on Spotify's New Music Friday.
Spazz Cardigan was raised on ‘NSYNC and Michael Jackson, before discovering Queen at age 10, igniting a drive to create and perform. Growing up outside of Louisville, he was classically trained as a piano player before teaching himself guitar, bass, and drums. He then moved to Nashville two days after graduating high school to pursue making music full-time.
Spazz’s sound is notably similar to that of other famed alt-pop legends, such as Walk The Moon. However, his style of pop is hard to pin down. He is constantly transcending genres. “S.O.S” has well-phrased lyrics planted between pulsating drums and a ringing electric guitar. It can be considered a redemption song in the way most of the lyrics are about self-awareness and not returning to old habits that don’t serve much purpose. Youthfulness and growth are also present themes as the lyrics suggest the mistakes Spazz Cardigan has made and is now reflecting on.
Listen to this certified banger while you wait for Spazz Cardigan to electrify us all with new sounds in march!
