Cherry Glazerr Gets Personal on 'Stuffed & Ready'

By: Hailey Hale

When you think about music that invokes a sense of rage and a little bit of anarchy you might think about the ever growing, female fronted, pop-punk band Cherry Glazerr. Their previous effort, Apocolipstick, which was released on Inauguration Day in 2017, was all about changing the world and teenage angst. But after taking a two year break lead singer and founder, Clementine Creevy decided to venture down a more personal route. Their new album Stuffed & Ready, which debuted today, shows a more mature and vulnerable side to the rowdy band, and it’s a direction we definitely love.

The band has taken on many controversial topics throughout the years. Many might have assumed that this album would be no different, especially because of these turbulent times, so it was an extremely pleasant surprise to find out that Creevy was taking on a different kind of controversy. This album is centered around mental health and one's own weakness, it explores the feelings that nobody wants to talk about in a way that makes you want to smash everything around you and just rage. Stuffed & Ready is the perfect ‘screw you’ to the feelings that bring you down, and the people who try to silence you.

Lyrically this album is very emotional and soul searching, but the sound is anything but. With roaring guitars, hard drums, and soaring vocals this album is a perfect one to mosh to. The sound is what you want and expect from Cherry Glazerr and we only have producer, Carlos de la Garza to thank. Originally the band had recorded a very live and self-produced sounding album that they had loved, however the members didn’t think it would fit the image they were trying to put out, so they recruited Apocolipstick producer, de la Garza to help them convey the message they ultimately wanted. He pushed them to break open their songs and really think about all the components that make their music great. This in turn caused Creevy to scrap songs that weren't answering the questions she wanted to address, and really focus on making the sound extraordinary.

Stuffed & Ready unleashes a side of the band that has never been seen before, but we want to see more of. It is very mature and takes Cherry Glazerr in a new and improved direction, so make sure you purchase the album and stream it endlessly.

This is the beginning of a new era for the ever riotous Cherry Glazerr.
