Best Behavior 'Things That Happened' EP Review
By Camryn Wolfenbarger
A Brooklyn-based band with a garage pop sound, Best Behavior is a band surely on the rise. The 4-piece debuted in 2015 with their first album, Good Luck Karma, a work that embodied their underground pop style and established them as an artist to watch. And now, Best Behavior is back with a new EP - Things That Happened.
In only 4 songs, Best Behavior pulled me in and make me long for an entire, full-length album. The first track was a standout song: “Things That Happened” pleasantly surprised from the start. It possessed a certain California surf-rock quality that the first album never quite reached (to my delight, the gritty beach-y theme remained constant throughout the entire EP.) Another top track, “Stay,” comes along with a music video that encapsulates the feel of the release completely: the dreamy Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk the background for the wavy, bright tune.
While the first album drew to mind a 2011-The Strokes, this new release showcases a brand-new, polished, Bad Suns-esque Best Behavior. It’s important for bands to change and progress as they go on, and I think that’s something we’re already seeing from Best Behavior. I can almost guarantee we will be hearing a lot more of them in the future.
You can listen to their music on Spotify and Apple Music.
