Twenty-two-year-old communist emcee and producer Ghais Guevara is an upcoming act with no shortage of buzz surrounding his work. With punchy, relevant lyrics and consistent releases, the Philadelphia-born, New Jersey-based rapper has repeatedly proven himself fit for stardom.

Two of his projects, BlackBolshevik and There Will Be No Super-Slave, have earned him underground critical acclaim, drawing comparisons to the likes of artists such as Billy Woods, Ab-Soul and JPEGMAFIA.

However, no amount of praise or recognition has made him comfortable enough to slow down. Guevara refuses to take a break from his craft, diligently working on various collaborations and singles in order to keep his listeners engrossed and enthralled.

His most recent track, “fallin 4 u,” is a collaboration with Dazegxd, a 20-year-old DJ and electronic music producer from Brooklyn, NY. Guevara enters the Jersey club-influenced track with a hard-hitting, energetic flow and delivery. He utilizes techniques that have been heard on other songs such as “Shaun King Isn’t Seeing Heaven” and “This Ski Mask Ain’t For COVID,” proving once again that he is no stranger to the dance music genre, nor is he afraid to embrace versatility.

On October 21, Guevara and others hosted a listening party for fans via LEGOLAND, a house venue in North Philadelphia known for spotlighting artists of various genres and backgrounds. All of the money raised at the event was donated to the Philly Van Project, a community-based, mutual aid organization seeking to help queer BIPOC who are affected by houselesness, food insecurity and other pressing issues.

Although “fallin 4 u” has only been sitting with fans for just over a week, Guevara’s next big collaboration is already underway. Free Breakfast For Children, a collaborative mixtape with several artists, is expected to be released very soon. Inspired by the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and their principles of community and self-determination, the mixtape is a collective effort galvanized by Ghais Guevara and others.

Free Breakfast For Children features BMOREALIEN, John Wells, Jaywan and Yoko McThuggin, all based in Baltimore. Brooklyn's own Blizz Macmatics, Zen Dash and Black Watr will make appearances as well alongsisde artists Perseus$, Illvisionary, Chioke and ALANFROMEARTH, hailing from Philadelphia. Because, after all, there’s no place like home.

Much of Guevara’s brilliance lies in the fact that there is a method to his madness. Although some may think that his routine of regularly releasing and previewing music may cause an oversaturation issue for his fans, he is simply responding to the law of supply and demand in order to build a name for himself. With this in mind, Guevara seeks to build a legacy on a firm foundation.
