Eliza & The Delusionals Get Real with 'A State of Living in an Objective Reality'
By Madison Brattoli
All the way from Australia, indie rock band Eliza & The Delusionals quickly hit the U.S. charts after releasing their U.S. debut single, “Just Exist.” Shortly after the release of the song last October, it was voted Number 1 on the Weekly ALT18 countdown on Alt Nation and is still requested frequently on the station.
Most recently, the band has finally released their brand-new EP, A State of Living in an Objective Reality, via Cooking Vinyl. The EP further showcases the band’s dream-like, yet personal sound, sure to continue the rise of the Eliza & The Delusionals name on the charts.
Singer Eliza Klatt explains the emotional upbringing of the EP:
“Right before we took everything into the studio, everyone in the band was going through so many personal changes and things and I think bringing these songs into the studio where we were in a situation of having full creative control felt really rewarding. It was almost a release from all of the bad times we had gone through in the lead up. I really think that's what puts this EP so close to our hearts.”
The EP includes five songs: “Swimming Pool,” “Pull Apart Heart,” “Just Exist,” “ALIVE,” and “Feel It All (And Nothing).”
“Swimming Pool” focuses on coming out of your comfort zone and taking risks in a relationship, while “Pull Apart Heart” lyrically focuses on heartbreak and mental health. The song brings out ‘all of the feels’ with a catchy chorus, creating the need to jam out loud. Remaining in the Top 10 of the Weekly Alt 18 for more than a month, “Just Exist” has resonated strongly with listeners, focusing on the inspiration that is created in some of the darkest times in life. Each song on the EP focuses on a personal narrative while withholding a catchy tune easy to sing along to.
Be sure to keep up to date with Eliza & The Delusionals and stay tuned for their rescheduled tour dates to catch this amazing EP in action!
