Walk The Moon "One Foot" Song Review
By Yasmin Ettobi
FELLOW WALK THE MOON FANS, WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG.
We received their sophomore album Talking is Hard and the Different Colors EP with open arms way back in 2014, but since then, there’s been a giant Ohio-shaped hole in our hearts.
After a year-long hiatus, it’s finally time to grab your face paint, because Walk the Moon is officially back! Their new single “One Foot” encompasses everything we love about the Cincinnati quartet. It’s catchy, upbeat and it radiates positivity.
Individually, the members of Walk the Moon all faced different struggles during their hiatus, and “One Foot” is a testament to enduring hardships. The inspiring lyrics and groovy, moving beat inspire forward-looking thinking even in the bleakest of situations.
Each member of the alt-rock group play a key role in the track. Sean Waugaman’s persisting drum beats, Kevin Ray’s funky basslines and Eli Maiman’s dreamy guitar riffs mold together beautifully, creating a complete sound. Lead singer and keyboardist Nicholas Petricca’s vocals bring the entire song together, proclaiming “One Foot” to be a true Walk the Moon song.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the first Walk the Moon song you’ve ever heard or if you’ve been a fan since the first album, “One Foot” is near impossible not to enjoy. It’s quite a bit different than older hits such as “Anna Sun” or “Tightrope,” but the key elements of what make Walk the Moon so loveable are all in there.
It’s inevitable that an album and tour are soon to follow the release of this single, so keep an eye out! There are BIG things happening for Walk the Moon in the future, and it’s exciting to know that we’ll be on the journey with them, “one foot in front of the other.”
