Pitchfork Releases 2019 Lineup
By: Ava Butera
Chicago indie music lovers, rejoice! It’s finally that time of year where we get a first glance as to how our summer will be going -- festival announcements are underway. The first festival of the summer, taking place the weekend of July 19th-21st is none other than Pitchfork’s very own Pitchfork Music Festival. Step back Lollapalooza and Riot Fest, Pitchfork is back again with yet another fantastic lineup catering to a wide variety of music fans!
The festival containing many acts classified as alternative and R&B, takes place in the West Side of Chicago’s cozy Union Park. Each year, Pitchfork is often known for incorporating both up-and-coming musicians, as well as headliners that would otherwise be regarded as undercard at festivals with larger audiences. And just like every year prior, Pitchfork has left fans pleasantly surprised with the mix of artists on the lineup.
2019’s headliners will be insanely talented sisters, Haim; iconic legends, The Isley Brothers; and electro-pop queen, Robyn. Fan-favorites such as Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Earl Sweatshirt, Parquet Courts, and Belle & Sebastian, to name a few. Whereas smaller acts such as Soccer Mommy, Clairo, Snail Mail, and Jay Som are also included in the mix. And of course, just like every year prior, Pitchfork has included a diverse handful of Chicago musicians -- this year bands like Whitney, Grapetooth, and Lala Lala will grace the Pitchfork stage.
I don’t know about you, but I for one am extremely excited and blown away with this lineup, it’s safe to say that you’ll catch be holding onto the barricade all three days of Pitchfork 2019.
